Tesla batteries only degrade about 10% after 180,000 miles

Over on TMC there is an on-going thread of X and S owners detailing the mileage of their vehicles as well as the rated range of their battery. Using the community sourced data, it appears the batteries will retain at least 90% capacity for the first 300,000 km or 180,000 miles. To detail that further, if you look at the chart below, the first 4.5% of capacity loss happens pretty quickly by approximately 50,000 miles. However, the rate of degradation sharply declines and projections point to a 300,000 km range of service.

This is great news for people who are worried about the replacement cost of a battery pack. Outside of a defective pack or damage, the lifespan of a Tesla battery pack seems to be quite good.
