The European Union Finance has a facility called the Innovator's Energy Demonstration Projects which will be backing a loan to Northvolt in order to build a demonstration plant to manufacture lithium ion batteries. Northvolt is an off-shoot of two ex Tesla Gigafactory employees, now CEO Peter Carlsson and COO Paolo Cerruti. Their goal is to generate 32 GWh of battery capacity every year.
